De stiptheid van de passagierstreinen op het Belgische spoornet is in oktober gezakt naar het laagste niveau sinds november 2018. “de vertragingen, het gebrek aan stiptheid en het gebrek aan betrouwbaarheid wijst erop dat minister van mobiliteit Georges Gilkinet (Ecolo) opnieuw loze beloften maakt”, zegt Kamerlid Frank Troosters.
“Tijdens de maand oktober kwamen de treinen slechts in 85,2 procent van de gevallen op tijd”, stelt Troosters, die Gilkinet hierover ondervroeg, vast. “Twee jaar geleden was dit stiptheidscijfer nog 93,6 procent en vorig jaar 92,6 procent. Nu zitten we al ruim onder de grens van 90 procent, waar moet dit eindigen? Bij de grens van 80 procent? Of misschien 70 procent?”
“Daarbij moet ook nog gezegd worden dat het stiptheidspercentage niet eens alle vertragingen omvat. Treinen die ‘slechts’ 4 of 5 minuten vertraging oplopen, worden hier niet meegeteld”, merkt Troosters tot slot op. “Het Vlaams Belang pleit ervoor om de ‘marge’ van 6 minuten vertraging met de helft te verminderen, zodat men een correctere manier hanteert om de effectieve vertragingen op ons spoornet weer te geven.”

“Het is veelzeggend dat de minister geen enkel concreet antwoord kon geven en zich voornamelijk verschuilde achter de inflatie en het feit dat het wachten is op het beheerscontract tussen de NMBS en de Staat die eind dit jaar rond moet zijn”, vervolgt Troosters. “Dat is compleet ongeloofwaardig. Hij belooft ons meer treinen en stiptheid, maar we zien enkel het omgekeerde. We zouden helemaal niet moeten wachten tot het beheerscontract rond is, er moet nu dringend iets gebeuren.”
Troosters gaf tenslotte aan dat de boosheid en frustratie bij de treinreizigers over het gebrek aan betrouwbaarheid en stiptheid bij de NMBS en het uitblijven van oplossingen toeneemt en begrijpelijk is. Bovendien zullen de treinreizigers die intussen nog niet afgehaakt hebben binnenkort ook nog een prijsverhoging te verwerken krijgen en wordt de aan hen beloofde uitbreiding van het vervoersaanbod ‘on hold’ gezet.
